Also, I will plan on coming, but Lindsay will be out of town. I have a year pass to the park, so I will use that instead of filling up one of the already paid for spots for our group.
We'll be meeting at the Fortress Cliff Camp Area as the HQ, and the Sunflower Trail as the hike. The camp area is between water crossings #4 and #5. Here is a map for reference: http://www.palodurocanyon.com/parkmap.pdf
I can't believe the way the health insurance issue is being twisted! The Catholic church's "rights" are being violated because they can't deny non-Catholic employees access to birth control? They make it sound like Catholics are being forced to purchase birth control. Does no one know how insurance works? Not providing birth control actually raises the costs, because a pregnancy is considerably more expensive than a pill. So in essence the church is paying to deny access, not the other way around.
I followed that link and was surprised to see Kiri's note on the show. You can watch it on Youtube, too. I posted a comment to clarify because the hosts seemed to have thought it was cute.
"About the Note: I'm a member of FTO in Amarillo and a student at WT. I attended the debate with my Christian daughter. We weren't able to stay and talk because of her late-pregnancy discomfort, but she had a comment she wanted to make to each of the speakers; so she gave Matt and Abdu a copy of the same note. FTO's message board said the beginning of this episode was about the debate. Irony abounds! I laughed and called her to come see her note on TV in Austin! She got a kick out of it. Thanks!"
I thought it was hilarious and started laughing hysterically and screaming for her to come watch it.
WHen I drove by there was a "need gas" sign in the window I think. I was torn by that. Should I be glad that it's difficult to fund this kind of thing from the public because they just don't care or should I give him $50 so they can leave?
The debate is already WTAMU's most watched video and has over 300 comments! If WT knew this would have been so popular, maybe they would've gotten it released sooner.
From my point of view this type of Christian advertising is a good thing as it is unlikely that the younger generation would ever be drawn to the message as displayed. Doesn't the bible expressly discourage this type of grandiose behavior?
Bring the subject of atheism out into the open and pretty soon it will no longer be controversial. I vote to allow the ad. Do they get a discount for using fewer words?
What a great plug. Thanks Matt and we really appreciate that you came to little ole' Amarillo for the debate. Come by again anytime. BTW - you did a fabulous job during the debate.
I have contended that there are as many interpretations (gods) as there are believers.
That's a good movie!

Red State - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0873886/
This is a crazy movie about a church somewhat like Westboro Baptist, only crazier. It is entertaining and scary. Not for little kids.
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
We'll be meeting at the Juniper Day Use instead of Fortress Cliffs. Still meeting at 6pm. See you there!

We could bring some dessert, probably cookies. But there's a decent chance we won't be able to get there at the start. It might be 2:30 or 3-ish.
I will supply enough sausage, hamburger and hot dogs for all.
It would be SUPER if everybody took the time to RSVP so we can have an accurate count and all will know how much stuff to bring.
I will be there and I am bringing 2-3 extra people.
WOOHOO - PARTY IN THE PARK!!!
I am just a poor programmer like you except the computer I work on is a dinosaur..
You don't have 1 billion dollars to send to Gary?
I like everything I hear from Gary Johnson and even sent him some money. Too bad it costs upwards of 1 BILLION dollars to buy the prersidency.

That is awesome!!!
Well, you are strange. Microbrews are the best.
A followup comic: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/atheism
I hate to start out being divisive but this atheist would not suggest drinking beer as long as there are still vineyards on this planet. ;;

Well that's attentions grabbing.
We better get some interest in this one!
The Man Who Would Be King - Sean Connery and Michael Caine. This movie is a good example of how easily gods (religions) can be created by humans.
