Has anyone seen the ledge? I should have gone when it made it's theatre run. If I hear it is good then I might order it from Amazon.
How are things in Amarillo? Los Alamos now has an atheist group. Were are called the Los Alamos community of atheists and have a facebook page along with a meetup group. Just thought I would share that with you folks.
Anyway the page title is called recommended movies so let me recommend Religulous with Bill Maher. Kind of snarky but lots of fun. Don't forget the popcorn.
Now wait just a minute! What makes you think it was Thor and not Zeus. Zeus can throw a pretty amazing thunder bolt. I saw it happen on TV one time and boy-howdy was I ever amazed! Was the lightening bolt shaped like a "Z"?
I hear up by Fort Collins it is pretty smoky, but I am a long ways away from there. Last I heard there was one missing person, and it still had a long ways to go to get under control. It is already the most destructive wildfire ever in the state, and was caused by lightning (stupid Thor!).
We know that god did not put it there because god is busy trying to help all the children around the world that are dying from starvation. Wow - sorry for the morbid talk but that is the mood I am in.
Otherwise I hope the Colorado wildfires are not doing any human damage. :)
Sounds like the old 'bait and switch' routine. Me thinks they have learned that to offer something useful instead of religious dogma gets fewer doors slammed in their face.
Also, I will plan on coming, but Lindsay will be out of town. I have a year pass to the park, so I will use that instead of filling up one of the already paid for spots for our group.
We'll be meeting at the Fortress Cliff Camp Area as the HQ, and the Sunflower Trail as the hike. The camp area is between water crossings #4 and #5. Here is a map for reference: http://www.palodurocanyon.com/parkmap.pdf
I can't believe the way the health insurance issue is being twisted! The Catholic church's "rights" are being violated because they can't deny non-Catholic employees access to birth control? They make it sound like Catholics are being forced to purchase birth control. Does no one know how insurance works? Not providing birth control actually raises the costs, because a pregnancy is considerably more expensive than a pill. So in essence the church is paying to deny access, not the other way around.
That's crazy! So the only way to know God is through ignorance. That should really be setting off alarm bells.
Yes, The Ledge is very good! And as for Religulous, I watch it weekly!!!

That is a swell analogy.
It sounds like the wisdom of a used-car-dealer who had lost his business due to claims of fraud, and moved onto embellishing old mythologies to sell more bibles and books giving them new life with apologetic puffery. Faith is the certitude that a used and broken automobile will last an eternity. It is no wonder that those who are poor in spirit purchase 4000-year-old relics of our past, test drive them for a short while and blindly hope the fraud can be made a reality.
The Grey with Liam Neeson
Here's a great review of it (with serious spoilers): http://consolationsofatheism.blogspot.com/2012/02/consolation-fifteen-grey.html
What a horrible little web site. I probably lost a few million brain cells after clicking on that link.

I have contended that there are as many interpretations (gods) as there are believers.
That's a good movie!

Red State - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0873886/
This is a crazy movie about a church somewhat like Westboro Baptist, only crazier. It is entertaining and scary. Not for little kids.
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
We'll be meeting at the Juniper Day Use instead of Fortress Cliffs. Still meeting at 6pm. See you there!

We could bring some dessert, probably cookies. But there's a decent chance we won't be able to get there at the start. It might be 2:30 or 3-ish.
I will supply enough sausage, hamburger and hot dogs for all.
It would be SUPER if everybody took the time to RSVP so we can have an accurate count and all will know how much stuff to bring.
I will be there and I am bringing 2-3 extra people.
WOOHOO - PARTY IN THE PARK!!!
I am just a poor programmer like you except the computer I work on is a dinosaur..
You don't have 1 billion dollars to send to Gary?
I like everything I hear from Gary Johnson and even sent him some money. Too bad it costs upwards of 1 BILLION dollars to buy the prersidency.

That is awesome!!!
Well, you are strange. Microbrews are the best.
