Gingrich and "activist" judges
Gingrich said he would take action against "steady encroachment of secularism through the courts to redefine America as a nonreligious country."
Wasn't sure if anybody had seen this yet, thought it was worth a look.
I think you are WAY too optimistic. I think there are a lot of social conservative religious people that absolutely love that idea.
I'm still optimistic.
It just doesn't feel like we're winning because we're in the Texas Panhandle. But now even a place this conservative has an active atheist group.
I'm optimistic for the long term but the short term worries me. I think things are gonna get particularly rough especially because of how mobilized and out in the public sight Atheist groups like ours have become. The relgious right is obviously threatened by all the headway secularism has made and they're going to make things nastier and nastier the more we grow. Just my opinion though.
I believe you are right. The theocrats in this country are becoming fewer and fewer so they have to get louder in ther attacks against the secularists. Way too many people now know 'the emperor has no clothes'. I read the other day something along the lines of 'we are hearing the death throes of the religionists'.

I feel the reasons Gingrich is doing so bad in the polls is because of radical ideas like this. The religious right has a HUGE voice but the really radical ones, like Gingrich, are actually few in number.
