Spiritually, morality is innate. My spirituality is humanist based on self- and- group betterment by truth based observation and critical thinking. Seeing the grab for power by church over the state of minds of people, I prefer keeping our government secular from my views, and the churches that want to convince me. I believe in community, compassion, and cooperation through informed choices.

"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." - Steven Weinberg

hitchslap (noun; verb): To utterly obliterate another's position or comment by utilizing impeccable logic clothed in scathing (and often poetic) rhetoric; a marriage of reason and poetry in prose.
Derived from the name of Christopher Hitchens, the polemicist extraordinaire of the 20th-21st centuries.
Full Disclosure: This moniker is utilized not necessarily to underscore my personal abilities in the areas mentioned above but to memorialize Hitchens.

Just moved to the area and am overjoyed to find out a group like this exists here! I have not been a believer in any of my 24 years, and am deeply troubled by the religious fundamentalism we are seeing today. Glad to know there are some like-minded folks in this area I can get together and chat with!!
